FSMA requires every South African food facility registered with the FDA to maintain continuous compliance. When a facility loses compliance — through registration expiry, inspection failure, or an import alert — its ability to export to the US is affected.
Import Alert 99-35
Import Alert 99-35 is the FDA's primary instrument for blocking shipments from facilities that present a safety risk. Once listed, products are detained at the border without physical inspection. Removal requires submitting corrective action evidence to the FDA. FDABridge provides food facility registration and US Agent services. Visit fdabridge.com/food.
