FAQ

Common questions

Who needs FDA food facility registration?+

Any facility that manufactures, processes, packs, or holds food for human or animal consumption in the United States must be registered with FDA. This applies to foreign facilities exporting to the US.

What is a US Agent and is it included?+

A US Agent is an individual or company based in the United States that serves as the FDA's point of contact for your facility. It is required for all foreign food facilities. Year 1 of US Agent service is included in the $349 price.

What is an FEI number?+

An FEI number (FDA Establishment Identifier) is the unique number FDA assigns to your facility upon registration. It appears in FDA systems, import records, and inspection databases.

Do I need a DUNS number first?+

Most foreign facilities need a DUNS number before FDA registration can proceed. If you don't have one yet, our DUNS Number service ($149) can be ordered first, or take the Food Starter Bundle ($449) which includes both.

Need DUNS + registration together?

The Food Starter Bundle ($449) includes DUNS Number Acquisition, FDA Food Facility Registration, and US Agent Year 1 — everything most foreign food facilities need.
