CPNP: What the Acronym Means and What the EU Cosmetic Notification Process Involves

CPNP stands for Cosmetics Products Notification Portal — the EU's mandatory pre-market notification system for cosmetic products. What Ghanaian exporters need to know.

CPNP — Cosmetics Products Notification Portal — is the European Commission's online system where every cosmetic product must be notified before it is placed on the EU market. Unlike a license or approval, CPNP notification is a self-declaration submitted by the Responsible Person. For Ghanaian brands exporting shea butter, natural cosmetics, or personal care products to the EU, CPNP compliance is mandatory before the first shipment. The notification requires product name, function, ingredient list (INCI), country of origin, and a safety assessment reference.

CPNP vs. FDA MoCRA: Two Different Requirements

Ghanaian cosmetics exporters targeting both the US and EU face two separate registration obligations: FDA MoCRA facility registration for the US market and CPNP notification for the EU market. FDABridge specialises in US FDA compliance. For EU CPNP, we can advise on which EU Responsible Person service to engage. Contact us for a free consultation.
