The 2026 FDA food facility registration renewal window runs from October 1 through December 31. A South Africa facility that must register because it manufactures, processes, packs or holds food for U.S. consumption must renew in that window, even if it first registered or updated before October 1. Check the specific facility and any applicable exemption first.
Check the facility and importer handoff
For packaged foods and dried fruit, confirm which physical facility performs each regulated activity, who controls its FDA Industry Systems account, and which U.S. importer will receive its current registration information. Check the legal name, address, activities, food categories, contacts, U.S. Agent and facility-specific DUNS/UFI. A change of owner or facility location may require cancellation and a new registration rather than an ordinary update.
Submit and retain evidence
Use the FDA Food Facility Registration Module to submit the renewal. Keep the submitted information, confirmation, date and responsible person. An update made before October 1 does not replace 2026 renewal. FDA itself charges no registration or renewal fee.
If the deadline is missed
FDA considers a registration not renewed by the end of December 31, 2026 expired. Import consequences depend on the shipment and facts; no provider can promise uninterrupted exports or automatic border release.
Agree on support
FDABridge can review a South Africa facility's status and assist with the agreed renewal scope. Reminder or ongoing management work depends on the contracted service.
